Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's softened for a fluffy mixture.
  • 2 large eggs Can be substituted with applesauce or flaxseed meal.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples Best results with firm, tart apples like Granny Smith.
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans Optional; can substitute with chocolate chips.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt together.
  • In another bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped apples and nuts if using.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Apple Bread is best served warm or at room temperature. It can be enjoyed plain, with butter, or paired with cream cheese or ice cream. Store wrapped tightly for up to three days or freeze individual slices for up to three months.
