Ingredients
  

Bread Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans (optional) Optional for added crunch

Streusel Topping

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar For streusel topping
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon For streusel topping
  • 1/4 cup butter For streusel topping

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar For glaze
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract For glaze
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk For glaze consistency

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  • In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the diced apples and nuts if using.

Streusel Preparation

  • For the streusel, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter in a bowl until crumbly.

Baking

  • Pour the bread batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the streusel on top.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Glazing

  • While the bread is cooling, mix the powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to create a glaze.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread before serving.

Notes

Apple Bread is delicious served warm or at room temperature. Slice the bread and serve it plain or with a bit of butter. It pairs wonderfully with coffee or tea and can be topped with ice cream for dessert. Store any leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or refrigerate for up to a week. Can also freeze for up to three months.
