For Serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Peel and slice the fresh apples, tossing them in a bowl with 1/2 cup of brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In another bowl, mix together 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of oats, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt.

Assembling

  • Melt 1/2 cup of butter and pour it into the dry mixture. Mix until it resembles wet sand.
  • Spread the apple mixture in a baking dish and top it with the crumbly oat mixture.
  • Whisk together 1/2 cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, then drizzle over the topping.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure butter is melted but not too hot when mixing with dry ingredients. Consider adding a splash of lemon juice for added flavor, and enjoy with a fresh green salad or a cup of tea.
