  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Prevents apples from browning.
  • 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces Dot on top of the apples before baking.
  • 1 piece egg, beaten For egg wash to give the crust a golden finish.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out the pie crust on a floured surface and place it on a baking sheet.
  • In a bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  • Arrange the apple mixture in the center of the crust, leaving about a 2-inch border.
  • Fold the edges of the crust over the apples, pleating as necessary.
  • Dot the apples with small pieces of butter.
  • Brush the crust with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Apple Galette can be served warm or at room temperature. It pairs well with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For an extra touch, sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
