Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Ground nutmeg

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Apple Ingredients

  • 1 cup Apples, peeled and chopped (preferably Granny Smith) Adds tartness
  • 1/2 cup Chopped pecans or walnuts (optional) For added crunch

Toppings

  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar (for sprinkling on top) Creates a caramelized crust

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Grease a loaf pan.

Combining Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In a larger bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped apples and nuts.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan, smoothing it out evenly.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar on top.
  • Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Slice and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
