Ingredients

For the Strudel

  • 1 package Puff pastry dough
  • 2 cups Fresh apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup Golden raisins
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup Flour (for dusting)
  • 1 whole Egg (for egg wash)

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Slice the fresh apples and place them in a large bowl.
  • Add golden raisins, sugar, and cinnamon to the apples and toss until well coated.
  • On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry dough to a size big enough to hold the apple filling.

Assembly

  • Spread the apple mixture evenly over the rolled-out pastry, leaving about an inch around the edges.
  • Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling and crimp the seams to seal the strudel.
  • Whisk the whole egg and brush it over the top of the strudel.

Baking

  • Place the strudel in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • While the strudel is baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  • Once the strudel is out of the oven, allow it to cool for a few minutes before drizzling the glaze over the top.
  • Slice and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, use a mix of tart and sweet apples. Consider serving with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful treat.
