Ingredients

Meat and Dairy

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded Colby Jack cheese Can substitute with cheddar or mozzarella
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and chopped

Vegetables

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • Chopped green onions For garnish

Sauces and Seasonings

  • 1 can tomato sauce (8 oz)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne Adjust to taste

Pasta

  • 18 oz shelf stable gnocchi Fresh gnocchi can be used; adjust cooking time

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy, drain the grease, chop it into small pieces, and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat.
  • Add the chopped onion, salt, pepper, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne. Cook until the meat is thoroughly cooked, then drain any extra grease.

Cooking

  • Stir in the minced garlic, tomato sauce, beef broth, heavy cream, and gnocchi. Mix everything well.
  • Once the mixture starts to bubble, cover the skillet with a lid and lower the heat to medium-low. Cook for about 5 minutes, covered.
  • Remove the lid and check if the gnocchi is tender. Stir gently.
  • Top with shredded Colby Jack cheese and sprinkle the cooked chopped bacon on top.
  • Let it sit on the stove covered until the cheese melts, or pop it in the oven for a few minutes to help the cheese melt.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, try using different types of cheese like cheddar or mozzarella. Make sure not to overcook the gnocchi; they should be tender but not mushy. You can adjust the spices by adding more or less cayenne if you prefer it spicier or milder. This dish goes well with a side salad or some garlic bread.
