Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced You can also use flank steak if you prefer.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh broccoli adds color and vitamins.
  • 1 cup cooked jasmine rice Fragrant and fluffy base for the stir-fry.
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced Adds earthy flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Brings depth of flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Enhances umami flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce Adds rich taste.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Provides nutty flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch Optional for thickening sauce.
  • 1/4 cup cashews For garnish.

Instructions

Marination

  • Start by marinating the beef strips in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.

Vegetable Preparation

  • While the beef is marinating, wash and cut your broccoli into florets and slice your mushrooms.

Cooking

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the broccoli and mushrooms to the pan and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp, then remove them from the pan.
  • In the same pan, add the marinated beef along with the minced garlic. Stir-fry until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Combine and Serve

  • Add the cooked broccoli and mushrooms back into the pan and stir to combine.
  • If using cornstarch for thickening, mix it with a little water and stir it into the mixture, cooking for another minute.
  • Serve the beef and broccoli mixture over 1 cup of cooked jasmine rice and garnish with cashews.

Notes

Feel free to customize by swapping beef for chicken or tofu, or by adding more veggies like bell peppers or snap peas. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat as needed.
