Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 (3 – 5 pound) brisket, fat trimmed to about 1⁄4-inch thick Trim the fat to avoid overly greasy meat.
  • to taste N/A salt Season generously.
  • to taste N/A ground black pepper Season generously.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Season the brisket generously with salt and ground black pepper.
  • Place the brisket in a roasting pan, fat side up.
  • Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil.

Cooking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 3 to 4 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
  • Remove from the oven and let the brisket rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing against the grain.

Notes

It pairs well with sides like mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or roasted vegetables. You can also serve it with barbecue sauce. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, or frozen for up to 2-3 months. Let the brisket rest after cooking to retain the juices. A meat thermometer should read around 200°F (93°C) for optimal tenderness.
