  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded Use medium or sharp cheddar based on preference.
  • 1/2 cup special sauce Mix of mayonnaise, ketchup, and relish.
  • to taste salt and pepper For flavor enhancement.
  • burger buns Essential for serving.

Instructions
 

Cooking

  • Preheat your skillet over medium heat.
  • Add ground beef to the pan and use a wooden spoon to break it apart, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  • Once beef is starting to brown, add the chopped onion and sauté together.
  • Drain excess fat if necessary to avoid greasiness.
  • Mix in the diced pickles.
  • In a small bowl, prepare the special sauce by mixing mayonnaise, ketchup, and relish, adjusting to taste.
  • Combine the special sauce with the skillet mixture and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top and cover the skillet to allow it to melt.
  • Toast the buns in a hot pan if desired.
  • Assemble the Sloppy Joes by placing the mixture on the bottom halves of the buns and topping with the other halves.
  • Serve immediately, optionally adding more pickles on the side.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add hot sauce to the beef mixture. Sauté garlic with the beef for more flavor. Don’t skip on the special sauce!
