Ingredients

For the filling

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries These are the stars of the dish! Their natural sweetness and juiciness create a luscious filling.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Used to mix with the blueberries to enhance sweetness.

For the batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour This gives the cobbler its structure, helping the batter rise beautifully.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar A touch of sweetness that balances the tartness of the blueberries.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder This is our leavening agent that makes the cobbler light and fluffy.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Just a pinch enhances the flavors and brings everything together.
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted Adds richness and wonderful flavor to the batter.
  • 1/2 cup milk Helps to create the perfect consistency for the batter.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Brings warmth and depth to our dessert.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). It’s essential to have your oven ready for the cobbler to rise perfectly.
  • In a bowl, gently mix the blueberries with 1/4 cup of sugar and set them aside.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, the remaining sugar, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is well mixed and you have a smooth batter.

Baking

  • Pour the blueberry mixture into a baking dish and scoop the batter evenly over the top.
  • Sprinkle a little extra sugar on top to enhance the golden crust while baking.
  • Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

A little trick I learned from my grandmother is to let the blueberries sit in the sugar for a few minutes to create a delightful syrup.
