Ingredients

For the patties

  • 1 lb ground beef Use fresh ground beef for best taste.
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the gravy

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp flour Used to make the roux.
  • 2 tbsp butter For cooking the patties.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine ground beef, onion, bread crumbs, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into patties.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add butter. Cook the patties until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes. Remove the patties and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add flour and stir to make a roux. Cook until the flour is golden brown.
  • Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  • Return the patties to the gravy and let them simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Serve hot.

Notes

For added flavor, let the patties sit for a few minutes before cooking. Feel free to add mushrooms or bell peppers to the gravy for extra texture and taste. You can also try adding different seasonings to the patties for varying flavors.
