Ingredients

  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or turkey) and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • In a large baking dish, layer the cabbage leaves and the meat mixture until all ingredients are used, ending with cabbage on top.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is slightly browned.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a side salad or crusty bread. Great for leftovers, can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days or frozen in a freezer-safe container.
