Preparation

  • Toast the slices of whole grain bread until golden brown and crispy.
  • While the bread is toasting, slice the avocados in half and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash it with a fork to your desired texture.
  • Squeeze in the lemon juice, and season the mashed avocado with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.

Assembly

  • Spread the avocado mixture generously on the toasted bread.
  • Top with halved cherry tomatoes and fresh basil leaves.
  • If desired, sprinkle with red pepper flakes for added spice.
