  • 1 pound ground beef The star of the show! Swap for turkey or chicken if desired.
  • 12 large pasta shells Choose the big shells for proper stuffing.
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Store-bought or homemade works well.
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese Provides a creamy texture.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Adds gooey goodness.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese For a slightly nutty flavor.
  • 1 large egg Helps bind the filling together.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances the aroma.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Adds a herby flavor.
  • to taste salt and pepper Essential for flavor enhancement.
  • for garnish Fresh basil Adds freshness and beauty.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook the pasta shells for about 8-10 minutes until al dente. Drain gently.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
  • Stir in the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, the egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Gently fold the cooked ground beef mixture into the ricotta mix until fully combined.
  • Stuff each shell generously with the cheesy beef filling.

Baking

  • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Place the stuffed shells open-side up.
  • Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells and sprinkle with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let the stuffed shells cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a creamier filling, consider adding an extra scoop of ricotta. Leftover shells can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
