Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of flour, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  • Add 1 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of melted butter to the dry mixture. Stir until well combined.
  • Pour this mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

Creating the Chocolate Layer

  • In a separate bowl, mix 1 cup of brown sugar and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder.
  • Evenly sprinkle this mixture over the batter in the baking dish.
  • Gently pour 1 3/4 cups of hot water over everything without stirring.

Baking

  • Place your baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes after baking.
