Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, optionally lining the bottoms with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry mixture.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips and raspberries.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting and Serving

  • Layer the cakes with your favorite frosting, such as raspberry frosting or chocolate ganache.
  • Decorate the top with additional fresh raspberries before serving.
