Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by dividing the ground beef into four equal portions and shape them gently into patties, making a small indentation in the center of each.
  • Season the patties generously with salt and pepper.

Cooking the Patties

  • Heat your skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add a tablespoon of olive oil or butter to the pan.
  • Cook each patty for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top to melt.

Preparing the Buns

  • Slice your burger buns in half and toast them on the grill or skillet for 1-2 minutes.

Assembling the Burgers

  • Start with the bottom half of the toasted bun. Layer the crisp lettuce leaves, a slice of tomato, and a few rings of red onion.
  • Add the cheese-topped patty and your favorite sauces like ketchup, mayonnaise, or mustard. Top with pickles if desired, then cover with the top half of the bun.

Making the Fries

  • Heat your vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to about 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the potato strips in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and let drain on paper towels, seasoning with salt while hot.

Serving

  • Plate your cheeseburgers alongside the crispy fries and enjoy with a cold drink.

Notes

Let the burgers develop a perfect crust. Monitor cooking time for desired doneness. For crispier fries, soak potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes before frying.
