Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice your potatoes thinly and set them aside.
  • Sauté the onions and garlic in a pan until translucent.
  • In a separate saucepan, prepare the creamy sauce using the cream and fresh herbs. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Layer the sliced potatoes in a baking dish, alternating with the sautéed onions and garlic.
  • Pour the creamy sauce over the layered potatoes, ensuring everything is nicely coated. Sprinkle cheese if desired.
  • Cover your dish with foil and place it in the oven to bake for about 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and let it bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, slice the potatoes evenly and consider using a mix of different potatoes for varied textures. A mandoline slicer makes slicing easier. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
