  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups milk Adjust thickness of sauce by adding more or less milk.
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour

Preparation

  • In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  • Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly, until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
  • Stir in the chopped dried beef and season with salt and pepper.

Serving

  • Serve the creamed beef hot over slices of toast.
  • Optional: Add a sprinkle of fresh parsley or chives for color and extra flavor.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over low heat, stirring often. Add a splash of milk to loosen the sauce if needed. Consider variations using sausage or cooked bacon, or adding vegetables like peas or spinach.
