  • 2 pounds potatoes Yukon Gold or red potatoes can be used.
  • 4 cloves garlic For extra flavor, you can use roasted garlic instead of boiled.
  • 1/2 cup cream Use half-and-half for a lighter version.
  • 1/2 cup butter Make sure the butter is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • to taste none Salt and pepper Season according to preference.
  • to taste none Chives for garnish Chopped for garnish.

Cooking

  • Peel and cut the potatoes into chunks, then boil in salted water until fork-tender.
  • Add the garlic cloves to the pot in the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  • Drain the potatoes and garlic, then return them to the pot.
  • Add cream and butter, and mash until creamy.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Garnish with chopped chives and serve.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 5 days, or freeze for up to a month. Reheat with a little more cream or butter for creaminess.
