For the Asparagus Sticks

  • 500 g fresh asparagus spears, trimmed Trim the tough ends for better texture.
  • 60 g all-purpose flour Used for dredging.
  • 2 large eggs, beaten Acts as a binder for the coating.
  • 100 g panko breadcrumbs Provides crispiness.
  • 60 g grated Parmesan cheese Can substitute with other cheeses like cheddar.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Cooking spray or 2 tablespoons olive oil For ensuring even crisping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 220°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place the all-purpose flour in a shallow dish, beaten eggs in a second shallow dish, and combine panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a third shallow dish.
  • Dredge each asparagus spear in flour, shake off the excess, dip into the beaten eggs, and roll in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  • Place the coated asparagus spears in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Lightly spray with cooking spray or drizzle with olive oil.

Baking

  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender and the coating is golden and crisp.

Serving

  • Remove from the oven and serve immediately as a warm snack or side dish.

Notes

These asparagus sticks are best served warm. Pair with your favorite dip, such as ranch or marinara sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, and reheat in the oven before serving.
