  • 4 pieces Cube steaks Choose good quality meat for better flavor and tenderness.
  • 1 large Onion, sliced Slice thin for even caramelization.
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) Cream of mushroom soup Can be substituted with cream of chicken soup.
  • 1 cup Beef broth Adjust liquid if adding extra vegetables.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.
  • Optional: garlic powder To taste, for added flavor.
  • Optional: onion powder To taste, for added flavor.

Preparation

  • Season the cube steaks generously with salt and pepper, and optionally, sprinkle garlic and onion powder on both sides.
  • Slice the large onion thinly.

Cooking

  • Place the sliced onions at the bottom of the Crock Pot.
  • Layer the seasoned cube steaks evenly on top of the onions.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and beef broth together until well combined.
  • Pour the soup and broth mixture over the cube steaks, ensuring they are completely covered.
  • Cover the Crock Pot and cook on low for about 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Stir gently halfway through cooking for even flavor distribution.
  • Check for doneness; the steak should be fork-tender.
  • Serve the cube steak with gravy and onions on a plate.

Notes

Consider adding fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for additional flavor. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
