Ingredients
  

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 pound ground beef The star of our dish, making it hearty and filling.

Beans and Tomatoes

  • 1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes Creates a juicy base and keeps everything deliciously saucy.
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained Brings in protein and texture.
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained Adds another layer of flavor.
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce Thickens the chili and adds extra tomato goodness.

Spices

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder Gives it the classic chili kick.
  • 1 teaspoon cumin Elevates the flavor beautifully.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential for bringing everything together.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the diced onions and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until they begin to soften.

Combining and Cooking

  • Transfer the browned beef, onions, and garlic to the crockpot.
  • Pour in the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce.
  • Add the rinsed kidney beans and black beans.
  • Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Stir occasionally throughout the cooking process to marry the flavors.
  • Taste the chili near the end of cooking and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Serving

  • Ladle the chili into bowls and garnish as desired, such as with shredded cheese, sour cream, or fresh cilantro.

Notes

Feel free to mix up the beans; adding some pinto beans can be fun! Serve with warm cornbread or a fresh salad for a delightful meal.
