  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Adds deep chocolate flavor.
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened Essential for a creamy taste.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar Sweetens the cake and keeps it moist.
  • 4 large eggs Provides moisture and helps the cake rise.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds warm flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder For light and fluffy cake.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Balances sweetness.
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips Melted for layering.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each, then stir in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add dry mixture to wet ingredients, alternating with heavy cream. Mix until combined, being careful not to overmix.

Baking

  • Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in their pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Assembling

  • Melt the dark chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
  • Place one cooled cake layer on a serving plate, spread melted dark chocolate over it, and sprinkle half of the white chocolate chips on top.
  • Add the second cake layer on top and repeat the process with dark chocolate and remaining white chocolate chips.
  • Whip the remaining heavy cream until stiff peaks form and pipe around the edges of the cake.

Notes

To ensure perfect results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overbaking. Serve with vanilla ice cream or coffee for an extra treat.
