  • Salt and pepper to taste For enhancing all the delicious ingredients.

Preparation

  • Brown the meat in a large skillet over medium heat until browned, then drain any excess fat.
  • Add the diced onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic, and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the rice and cook for 2 minutes, letting it soak up the delicious flavors from the skillet.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and add the Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper, then bring everything to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

A little trick I love is adding a splash of hot sauce right at the end for an extra kick! Make sure to adjust the Cajun seasoning to your taste. If you love more spice, don’t be shy to add a little extra! Letting the dish rest for a few minutes after you’ve turned off the heat helps the flavors develop even more.
