  • 2 cups finely chopped ham Leftover holiday ham works beautifully.
  • 1 medium sweet onion Or any onion of your preference.
  • 1 cup chopped celery Adds a nice crunch.
  • 1/2 cup sweet relish For a hint of sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon dill weed For freshness.
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise Greek yogurt can be used for a lighter version.
  • 1 tablespoon mustard Dijon recommended, but yellow works.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients.
  • Finely chop your leftover ham into small pieces.
  • Dice the onions finely. If you prefer, soak them in cold water to mellow the flavor.
  • Chop the celery into small evenly-sized pieces.

Mixing

  • In a mixing bowl, toss together your chopped ham, onions, celery, and sweet relish.
  • Sprinkle in the dill weed and stir to distribute evenly.
  • Add the mayonnaise, starting with a few heaping tablespoons and adjust for creaminess.
  • Mix in the mustard until everything is well combined.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary.

Chilling

  • Let the salad chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve on slices of bread or alongside crackers.
  • Enjoy with family and friends!

Notes

This salad can be served for lunch, dinner, or as a picnic snack. Try using half Greek yogurt for a lighter dish, or adding a dash of hot sauce for heat. Chilling is important for flavor melding.
