Ingredients
  

For the Danish

  • 1 package 1 package (12 count) King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 8 ounces 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Ensure cream cheese is fully softened for a smooth mixture.
  • ¼ cup ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar (1½ tablespoons sugar mixed with ½ tablespoon cinnamon) Adjust amount to taste.
  • Powdered sugar for dusting Use for finishing touch.

Preparation

  • Heat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice each Hawaiian roll halfway through to make a little pocket.
  • Mix your softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk until it’s smooth and creamy.
  • Spoon or pipe the cream cheese mixture into each roll’s pocket, then place them on your baking sheet with some space between each.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mix.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let them cool a bit, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

These danishes are best served warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. For variations, consider adding chopped fruit or substituting cinnamon sugar with powdered cocoa or nutmeg.
