Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces ripe pears, halved and cored Choose firm but ripe pears.
  • 120 grams blue cheese, crumbled Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese.
  • 30 grams chopped walnuts, toasted Make sure to toast the walnuts to enhance their flavor.
  • 15 millilitres honey, plus extra for drizzling Use quality honey for best flavor.
  • 15 millilitres balsamic vinegar
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • to taste Fresh thyme sprigs, for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat the oven to 190°C and prepare a baking sheet.
  • Slice pears in half and carefully remove cores with a melon baller or spoon. Arrange pear halves cut side up on the baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, combine the crumbled blue cheese, toasted walnuts, and honey. Mix until fully incorporated.
  • Spoon the cheese filling into the center of each pear half, pressing gently to pack the mixture.

Baking

  • Drizzle balsamic vinegar over the stuffed pears and sprinkle with ground black pepper.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the pears are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  • Remove from the oven, drizzle with extra honey, and garnish each pear with fresh thyme sprigs. Serve warm for optimal flavor.

Notes

If you have leftovers, let the pears cool to room temperature, then store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the oven before serving.
