Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  • Fold in any optional toppings like chocolate chips or nuts.
  • Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the dessert to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, slice into squares and serve.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better blending. Don't overmix to keep it fluffy. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for three days.
