Ingredients
  

For the pastry

  • 1 stick butter It gives richness and flavor.
  • 1 cup water Essential for creating steam to puff up pastries.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla Adds warm flavor; almond extract can be used for a twist.
  • 1 cup flour Use all-purpose flour for the right texture.
  • 4 large eggs Provides structure and light texture.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances flavors.

For dusting

  • to taste powdered sugar Finishing touch for presentation.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the butter, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Once boiling, remove from heat and add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously until a smooth dough forms.
  • Allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until glossy and smooth.
  • Using a tablespoon or piping bag, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto a lined baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden and sound hollow when tapped.
  • Cool on a wire rack until slightly deflated.

Filling and Serving

  • Fill cooled pastries with whipped cream, custard, or pastry cream.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

To prevent deflation, let them cool in the oven with the door slightly ajar for a few minutes after baking. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of days.
