  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Foundation for the bread, giving it texture.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Helps the bread rise.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Adds richness and keeps the bread soft.
  • 3/4 cup water Binds all ingredients together.

Flavoring Ingredients

  • 3-4 cloves garlic (minced) The star ingredient for aromatic flavor.
  • Butter (for brushing) Adds flavor and glossy finish.
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish) Brightens up the flatbreads.

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until blended.
  • Drizzle the olive oil over the flour mixture and mix it in lightly.
  • Slowly add the water a little at a time while mixing until dough begins to form.
  • Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it feels smooth and elastic.
  • Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a golf ball (yielding about 6).
  • Roll each ball out on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.

Cooking

  • Preheat a skillet over medium heat until hot.
  • Cook one flatbread in the skillet for about 1-2 minutes on one side until it puffs and turns golden brown.
  • Flip and cook for another minute until brown spots form.
  • Melt some butter in a small dish and mix in the minced garlic.
  • Brush the garlic butter over the top of each flatbread while warm.
  • Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure the skillet is at the right temperature. Add herbs or chili flakes for a twist. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
