  • 6 ounces 1 6 ounce can tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 clove 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 1 bay leaf
  • 3/4 teaspoon 3/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3/4 teaspoon 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram

Preparation

  • In a large pot, combine the tomato juice and tomato paste.
  • Add the brown sugar, oregano, minced garlic, bay leaf, basil, salt, and marjoram.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and cover the pot.
  • Let it simmer until thickened, about 45 minutes.

Notes

For a smoother sauce, use an immersion blender after simmering. Taste the sauce before serving and adjust the seasonings if needed. Pair it with fresh herbs like basil or parsley for added freshness.
