Crust and Filling

  • 1 9-inch Unbaked pie crust Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 cup Pecans, chopped Using fresh pecans enhances flavor.
  • 1 cup Corn syrup This gives the pie its gooey texture.
  • 1 cup Brown sugar Essential for sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup Melted butter Adds richness to the filling.
  • 3 large Eggs Bind the filling together.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Enhances flavor.
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Balances sweetness.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Prepare the pie crust by unrolling it into a 9-inch pie pan.

Mixing the Filling

  • In a large bowl, combine corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
  • Add the three large eggs and whisk until fully incorporated.
  • Stir in the chopped pecans.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract.

Baking

  • Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
  • Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until set and slightly jiggly in the center.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.

Serving

  • Slice and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For best results, chill the crust before adding filling. Don’t overmix after adding eggs. Watch baking time closely; tent with foil to prevent burning if edges brown too quickly. Leftovers can be refrigerated for 3 to 4 days.
