Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 pounds salmon (Chinook, Coho, or Atlantic salmon)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large lemon, sliced thinly
  • 1 Tablespoon finely chopped fresh or dried dill Substitutes can include parsley or thyme

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat your grill to medium heat.
  • Season both sides of the salmon with salt and pepper.
  • Place the salmon onto a large sheet of aluminum foil that is large enough to wrap around the salmon.
  • Bring the sides of the foil up to create a barrier so that the melted butter and seasoning do not spill out.
  • Slowly pour the melted butter evenly over the salmon.
  • Sprinkle the minced garlic and chopped dill evenly over the salmon.
  • Place the lemon slices over the salmon.
  • Fold up the foil edges and corners gently around the salmon, leaving a small opening at the top.

Grilling

  • Grill at medium heat for about 15-18 minutes.

Serving

  • Carefully unwrap the foil to reveal the delicious salmon.
  • Plate it directly from the foil or transfer it to a serving dish.
  • Drizzle any remaining juices from the foil over the salmon for extra flavor.

Notes

Tips include using fresh herbs for the best flavor and monitoring the salmon to avoid overcooking. Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container and can last for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
