Ingredients

For the topping

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion or 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder

For the sliders

  • 1 pound Hawaiian rolls (24 small or 12 large)
  • 1 pound deli ham, thinly sliced
  • 1 pound Swiss cheese

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9 by 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside.
  • In a bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and onion.

Assembling the Sliders

  • Cut the rolls in half and place the bottom halves in the prepared baking dish.
  • Layer half of the ham over the bottom rolls, then add a layer of Swiss cheese, and top with the remaining ham.
  • Place the top halves of the rolls on top of the ham and cheese.
  • Pour the butter mixture evenly over the rolls.

Baking

  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, remove the foil and return the dish to the oven. Bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serving

  • Once done, take the sliders out of the oven, cut them, and serve immediately.

Notes

For added flavor, use flavored mustard or a sprinkle of garlic powder in the butter mixture. You can substitute Swiss cheese with cheddar or provolone. If you like a little crunch, consider adding sliced pickles or jalapeños. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
