Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 5 pieces Apples Fresh, crisp apples are recommended.
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Corn Starch
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 3/4 cup Apple Juice or Apple Cider
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice Can be omitted if freezing.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Core, peel, and slice your apples using a sturdy peeler and a sharp knife.
  • Blanch the apple slices in boiling water for about one minute to soften them.

Making the Syrup

  • In a pot, combine sugar, corn starch, cinnamon, nutmeg, water, apple juice, and lemon juice. Bring to a gentle boil while stirring.
  • Stir until the sauce thickens, about 5 to 7 minutes.

Combining Ingredients

  • Gently fold the apple slices into the thickened syrup until well coated.
  • Fill sterilized jars with layers of apples and syrup.
  • Run a knife around the jars to remove air bubbles and seal them with lids.

Processing

  • Process jars in a boiling water bath for 25 minutes.
  • Remove jars and let them cool before storing.

Notes

Store in a cool, dark place for up to a year. Once opened, keep refrigerated and use within a week. Reheat before serving.
