  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
  • 2 cups milk Use low-fat milk for a lighter version.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Bread for toast Best when made fresh.

Cooking

  • In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the dried beef and sauté for a few minutes.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the beef and stir to combine.
  • Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve over toasted bread.

Notes

Serve hot with the creamed chipped beef poured over toasted bread. Garnish with fresh herbs or serve with eggs for a complete meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Avoid storing toast as it can become soggy.
