  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1/2 cup Onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup Ketchup Add a little extra for sweetness if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard
  • Salt and pepper To taste
  • Burger buns As needed

Cooking Steps

  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and green bell pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard until well combined.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes to meld flavors.
  • Optionally, toast burger buns in a toaster oven or under a broiler for a minute or two.
  • Spoon the Sloppy Joe filling onto the bottom half of each bun, and crown with the top half.
  • Enjoy your Sloppy Joes, being ready for a messy meal!
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes

For extra tang, consider adding hot sauce or cayenne pepper. You can also sneak in finely grated carrots for additional nutrition. Feel free to adjust ingredients to your taste.
