  • 12 oz salmon (cut into 2-3 fillet strips) Fresh or thawed
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper Adjust to taste
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp warm water
  • 1.5 tsp apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For frying
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 lemon (sliced into wedges)
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley For garnish

  • Salt and black pepper To taste

Preparation

  • Season the surface of the salmon with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper, and set aside.
  • Combine honey, warm water, apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice), and a pinch of salt in a bowl, and stir well to mix.

Cooking

  • Heat an oven-safe skillet over high heat. Add olive oil and pan-fry the salmon, skin side down, for about 1 minute.
  • Flip the salmon and cook for another minute. Then, turn it over again so that the skin side is facing down.
  • Add minced garlic to the pan and sauté until slightly browned.
  • Add honey mixture and lemon wedges to the skillet, and reduce the sauce until it becomes sticky.
  • Finish by broiling the salmon in the oven for 1 minute, or until the surface becomes slightly charred (optional step).

Serving

  • Top the salmon with parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Make sure to pat the salmon dry before seasoning to get a nice sear. For extra flavor, marinate the salmon in the honey mixture for 30 minutes before cooking. Keep an eye on the salmon while broiling, as it can char quickly. Refrigerate leftovers and consume within 2 days.
