Honey Garlic Soy Glazed Salmon

Ingredients
  

For the marinade

  • 1/3 cup reduced sodium soy sauce or regular
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame oil or olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced or 2 teaspoons jarred/minced
  • 1 teaspoon peeled minced fresh ginger optional

For the salmon

  • 4 pieces salmon fillets, about 6 ounces each

For garnish

  • chopped green onion and/or sesame seeds optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place the salmon fillets into a large zippered food storage bag or a shallow dish.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger until well combined.
  • Pour about half of the marinade mixture over the salmon. Turn the salmon to coat fully. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 4 hours.

Cooking

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (191°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, parchment paper, or a silicone baking mat.
  • Place the marinated salmon fillets on the baking sheet, skin side down, and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through.
  • Meanwhile, pour the remaining marinade into a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Drizzle the thickened glaze over the baked salmon and serve with optional garnish of chopped green onion or sesame seeds.

Notes

Marinating the salmon for longer will enhance the flavor even more. Use fresh garlic and ginger for better flavor, but jarred or minced versions are convenient. Keep an eye on the salmon while baking to avoid overcooking. It should flake easily when done.
