Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water Must be hot for the desired fudge layer

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a bowl, mix together the sugar, cocoa powder, and flour.
  • Add milk, vegetable oil, baking powder, and vanilla. Stir until combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Slowly pour hot water over the batter (do not stir).

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is set.

Serving

  • Serve warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Make sure to use hot water for pouring over the batter; do not stir it in. For added flavor, consider mixing in some chocolate chips or nuts before adding the hot water. Can add a splash of coffee or different extracts for variation.
