Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk Warm, not hot
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until warm but not boiling.
  • Add the warm milk mixture to the flour mixture and mix well.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until soft and smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls. Arrange the balls in a greased baking dish.
  • Let the dough balls rise for another 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter before serving.

Notes

Make sure your milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly. Knead the dough well for a light and fluffy texture. For an extra sweet touch, add a bit of honey to the dough. If you like softer rolls, place them close together in the baking dish.
