Cooking Steps

  • In a large pot, place your ground beef over medium heat and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
  • Once the meat is browned, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes and beef broth. Stir well and taste, adjusting any seasoning as needed.
  • Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning along with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Bring the pot to a boil, then add the uncooked pasta. Lower heat to a gentle simmer and cook according to pasta package instructions, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Stir in the ricotta cheese, enhancing creaminess and flavor.
  • Just before serving, stir in half of the shredded mozzarella to melt into the soup.
  • Ladle the soup into bowls and top with the remaining mozzarella and a sprinkle of fresh basil.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider using homemade beef broth. To ensure perfectly cooked pasta, add it towards the end of cooking.
