Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef The star of our dish! Ground beef gives these meatballs their rich flavor and juicy texture.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs These add the perfect binding element to keep your meatballs together without making them too dense.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese A secret ingredient for that delightful cheesy flavor.
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley Fresh herbs add a wonderful brightness to our dish.
  • 1 large egg Essential for binding the ingredients together.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Adds a savory depth that enhances the entire flavor.
  • to taste salt and pepper Essential for seasoning your meatballs properly.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For searing the meatballs.

For the Gravy

  • 1 large onion, sliced Sweet and tender, onions create a fantastic base for our savory gravy.
  • 2 cups beef broth This is the soul of our gravy! Rich and flavorful.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce A splash adds a tangy depth to our gravy.
  • 1 cup sour cream For that creaminess you just won't be able to resist!

For Serving

  • to taste mashed potatoes or egg noodles These make the perfect canvas to enjoy the gravy.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic powder, and salt and pepper. Mix gently without overmixing, then form into 1 to 1.5 inch meatballs.

Browning the Meatballs

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides for about 5-7 minutes, working in batches if necessary. Set aside.

Making the Gravy

  • In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onion for about 5 minutes until golden and sweet. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing to a gentle simmer.
  • Return meatballs to the skillet and cover. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until meatballs are cooked through.
  • Stir in sour cream to create a creamy gravy.

Notes

For extra juicy meatballs, add a splash of milk to the mixture. Use a meat thermometer to ensure meatballs reach 160°F. You can swap ground beef for turkey as a lighter alternative.
