Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix gently, ensuring everything is well combined but don’t overwork the mixture.
  • Form the mixture into meatballs, aiming for about 1 inch in diameter.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a touch of oil.
  • Brown the meatballs on all sides, about 5-7 minutes, then set aside.
  • In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onion until golden and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the flour and cook for about a minute.
  • Gradually pour in the beef broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet.
  • Return the meatballs to the skillet, covering them with gravy, and let simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve the meatballs and gravy over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.

Notes

For juicier meatballs, consider adding a splash of milk to the mixture. A mix of ground meats can also enhance flavor.
