  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder Adjust to taste.

Cooking Instructions

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  • Add the flour and stir until bubbly, forming a roux.
  • Gradually add milk while continuously whisking to avoid lumps.
  • Cook until the mixture thickens slightly.
  • Reduce heat to low and add the white cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and season with salt and pepper.
  • For added heat, stir in your choice of chili pepper or crushed cayenne pepper.
  • Serve warm as a dip for tortilla chips or as a sauce for other Mexican dishes.

Notes

For an impressive touch, garnish with fresh cilantro or chopped jalapeños. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
