  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 large Egg

  • 1 package Vanilla pudding mix (for filling) Using real vanilla pudding enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate frosting (for topping) Warm before using.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk them together until well blended.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  • Gently pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined—don’t overmix!
  • In a deep pan, heat oil over medium heat until hot enough (about 350°F to 375°F).
  • Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain.
  • Once cooled, fill each donut with vanilla pudding using a piping bag or Ziplock bag.
  • Dip the tops of the filled donuts into warmed chocolate frosting.
  • Place the donuts on a wire rack to allow chocolate to set.

Notes

Always check the temperature of your oil to ensure proper frying. Allow donuts to cool before filling to prevent melting of the pudding.
