Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour This is the backbone of your bread, giving it structure and that lovely chewy texture.
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt Salt not only adds flavor but also strengthens the gluten structure in the flour.
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast This is what makes your bread rise without the need for kneading.

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups water Essential for hydration, water also activates the yeast, helping your bread to rise wonderfully.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, salt, and instant yeast.
  • Pour in the water and stir with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined.
  • Cover the bowl loosely with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
  • The next day, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat.
  • Lightly flour your counter and gently transfer the dough onto the floured surface, shaping it into a ball.
  • Place the dough on a piece of parchment paper.
  • Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven and lift the parchment with the dough into the pot.
  • Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 15 minutes.
  • Once done, let the bread cool before slicing into it.

Notes

Make sure to use fresh yeast for the best rise. Keep an eye on your bread in the final baking minutes to achieve your desired crust color. Adding herbs or garlic powder to the dry ingredients can enhance flavor.
