Ingredients
  

Cabbage and Filling

  • 1 head cabbage Use large, outer leaves for best results.
  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or pork.
  • 1 cup cooked rice Can substitute with quinoa or barley for variation.
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes Can add a splash of vinegar for tang.
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Add more spices or hot sauce for extra kick.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust seasoning as desired.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully remove the leaves from the cabbage head and blanch them in boiling water for a few minutes until soft.
  • In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Place a portion of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.

Baking

  • In a large baking dish, spread some tomato sauce on the bottom.
  • Place the stuffed cabbage rolls seam-side down in the dish and cover with the remaining tomato sauce.
  • Bake for 1 hour, covered with foil.

Serving

  • Serve hot and enjoy! They pair well with a side of crusty bread or a simple salad.
  • Optionally, sprinkle some fresh chopped herbs, like parsley, on top for added color and flavor.

Notes

To store leftovers, let the cabbage rolls cool completely, then refrigerate in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or microwave until heated through.
